Organization Earth, is a Greek non-profit civil society organization (NGO) based in Athens, offering experiential learning programs & services adhering on the principles put forward by the Global Goals of Sustainable Development. Our activities are developed alongside 3 main areas:

A) Environmental Action in Urban Centers

B) Social Integration for Vulnerable Social Groups (refugees, people with disabilities, long-term unemployed, senior citizens)

C) Business for Good & Responsible Entrepreneurship.

 

Current employment openings concern, “Hope Sports” an initiative fostering social inclusion and personal development through sport.

 

Hope Sports designs and implements programs that are targeting to refugee & asylum seekers adults (men and women), children aged 7-17, unaccompanied children and unprivileged populations in general, with the main goals:

-The social integration of participants into local communities.

-The personal development of the participants and the empowerment of their professional skills.

- To promote a sustainable lifestyle and healthy lifestyle by adopting sports in daily life.

 

Our goal is to use sports as an innovative tool for fostering social inclusion, reduce inequalities, offering equal chances, fighting any kind of discriminations, promoting sustainable and resilient cities & communities. Sport creates bridges where boundaries usually exist, contributing to people’s health and happiness and building trust and community spirit.

TITLE: Sport for Development Program Officer, Organization Earth

JOB CODE: 102001

LOCATION: Attica Region, Greece

WORK SCHEDULE: 40 hours per week (including weekends)

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Program Officer implements, oversees and reports the activities under the Hope Sports initiative of Organization Earth. The program officer coordinates staff and volunteers, actively pursues partnerships with organizations and entities working in the field of Hope Sports’ interest and helps maintain and continuously develop Organization Earth’s strategic goals.

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support execution of the projects in accordance with Organization Earth’s mission and goals.

  • Implement, manage and provide regular feedback regarding Hope Sports’ activities.

  • Plan upcoming activities and events

  • Undertake administrative tasks

  • Manage M&E and regular reports to donors and head office.

  • Safeguard and maintain inventory of Organization Earth’s physical equipment and regularly communicate additional supply requirements.

  • Refer to Hope Sports Program Manager about daily activities.

  • Supervise and provide direction, input and feedback to Hope Sports coaching staff members.

  • Prepare, implement and follow the M&E procedures in EU funded projects.

  • Identify risks associated with program activities using activity reports. Evaluate severity of risks by developing program evaluation framework, and communicate findings (including recommended changes) to Program Manager.

  • Keep statistical and financial records

  • Represent Hope Sports and Organization Earth at relevant networks and policy events.

  • Implement Organization Earth’s human resources policies, procedures and practices.

  • Ensure personnel files are properly maintained and kept confidential.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in sports sector, public administration, public policy, sociology, non-profit management, international relations, education, diplomacy or international development.  

  • Excellent command of written and spoken Greek & English.

  • Computer literate (i.e. MS Office)

  • Minimum one-year working experience in a relevant field.

  • Proactive and possesses excellent attention to detail.

  • Understands and is sensitive to needs of people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures.

  • Able to be flexible and deal with emotional stress, and to seek support when needed.

 

Desired

  • Experience coordinating recreational and educational activities for children.

  • Excellent planning and coordination skills with the ability to organize a workload comprised of varying and changing tasks and responsibilities.

  • Experience in community mobilization work in a humanitarian context.

  • Previous managerial experience is a strong advantage.

 

 

 

TITLE: Sport for Development Educator, Organization Earth

JOB CODE: 102002

LOCATION: Attica Region, Greece

WORK SCHEDULE: 25 hours per week (including weekends)

SHORT DESCRIPTION: The sport educator plan, prepare and implement Sport for Good activities for children and adults.

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct sport activities through specific methodologies.

  • Provide knowledge about sport rules and techniques.

  • Follow the M&E procedures.

  • Convey specific values through sport.

  • Ensure that participants train and perform to a high standard of health and safety at all times.

  • Report programs’ progress to supervisors.

  • Work with IT-resources to monitor attendances.

  • Implement, manage and provide regular feedback about the program.

  • Monitor and enhance performance by providing tuition, encouragement and constructive feedback.

  • Safeguard and maintain inventory of Organization Earth’s physical equipment and regularly communicate additional supply requirements.

  • Document in pictures and videos Organization Earth’s athletic programs and when necessary, request permission from individuals portrayed therein.

                                                                                                   

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in sports, public administration, public policy, sociology, non-profit management, international relations, or education.

  • Excellent command of written and spoken Greek & English.

  • Experience implementing and managing children’s activities and sport programs.

  • Computer literate (i.e. MS Office).

  • Be able to organize a workload comprised of varying and changing tasks and responsibilities.

  • Demonstrates excellent planning skills concerning program ‘s events.

  • Understands and is sensitive to needs of people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures.

  • Commitment to humanitarian principles and values.

  • Be aware of equality and diversity issues.

  • Be flexible and deal with emotional stress, and to seek support when needed.

 

Desired

  • Experience in a relevant field.

  • Experience in community mobilization work in a humanitarian context.
